This Privacy Notice explains what information Bingely collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Bingely verifies that you are watching a show by listening through your microphone. We designed that verification so the audio never leaves your device — this notice explains exactly what is and is not sent to us.
1. What We Collect
Information you provide to us
• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a username or display name, and a password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to Bingely. Creating an account also requires enrolling your device's biometric unlock, so we record that enrollment succeeded, the type of biometry you enrolled with (Face ID or Touch ID), an app-generated device identifier, and a public key generated in your device's Secure Enclave. Where supported we also record an Apple App Attest attestation for your device. We never receive or store your face or fingerprint data — it stays in the Secure Enclave on your device. • Content you create. We collect the posts, comments, bubbles, photos and other media, community names and descriptions, and show-setup data (keywords and dialogue-timing reference maps) that you submit, along with the time you submitted them and the show or community they relate to. • Purchases. When you buy BingelyCash, Apple processes the payment. We receive a signed transaction record from Apple containing the product, price tier, time, and an anonymous transaction identifier tied to your Bingely account. We do not receive your payment card details. • Cash-out information. When you request a payout we collect the requested amount, a public key generated in your device's Secure Enclave, the type of biometry you confirmed with (Face ID or Touch ID), your device's name and an app-generated device identifier, and, where supported, an Apple App Attest attestation for your device. We may also collect payment details, identity documents, or tax forms needed to fulfil the payout or to meet our legal obligations. • Support and reports. When you contact us or report content, we collect the information you include, such as the reason for the report and any details you add.
Information we collect automatically
• Watch-session data. During a watch session Bingely listens through your microphone and processes what it hears entirely on your device. Audio is held only in memory for the moment it is being analysed and is never written to storage, recorded, or transmitted. The app sends us only derived results: the times at which the episode's expected keywords were detected, a compressed timing map of when dialogue occurred, acoustic signals used to detect spoofing (for example, whether the speech resembles a live person reading rather than a playback), the bubbles you tapped, and the session's start and end times. We keep this data to score and audit your rewards. If you dictate a bubble during a session, verification pauses while you speak and your words are converted to text on your device by Apple's on-device speech recognition; that audio is never sent to us either, and only the bubble text you choose to post reaches us, as content you create. • Usage and log data. Like most online services, our servers record when the app makes requests, including your IP address, the time, the request made, and your app version. We also record BingelyCash transactions, tickets, boosts, sponsorships, community memberships, likes, blocks, and reports so that your balances and preferences work correctly. • Device information. We collect the app-generated device identifier described above, your iOS version, and your device model so that payouts remain bound to your device and so we can diagnose problems. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. • Local storage. The app stores your session token in the iOS Keychain and stores preferences such as your onboarding state and dismissed prompts in UserDefaults on your device. This information is not sent to us except as described above.
Information from other sources
• Apple. We receive purchase confirmations and, if you use it, App Attest results from Apple. • The Movie Database (TMDB). We retrieve show titles, artwork, and descriptions from TMDB. TMDB data is about shows, not about you. • Other users. Other users may mention your username in content or report your content, in which case we receive that report.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve Bingely, including verifying watch sessions and crediting BingelyCash. • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms — for example, comparing your session's timing map with the show's reference map, detecting replayed or synthesized audio, and identifying duplicate accounts or devices. • Process purchases, sponsorships, and cash-out requests, including identity, device, and tax verification and record keeping required by law. • Personalize your experience, such as showing you communities and shows you have joined and hiding content from users you have blocked. • Communicate with you about your account, transactions, reports, security, and changes to our policies. • Respond to your support requests and moderate content that is reported to us. • Monitor and analyse trends, usage, and activity in aggregate so we can understand how Bingely is used and make it better. • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Community Rules.
We do not use your information to serve advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. How Information About You Is Shared
We share information in the following ways:
• With other users. Your username and the content you post publicly — posts, comments, bubbles, media, and the communities you create — are visible to other Bingely users. Your email address, balances, watch-session data, and payout information are never shown to other users. • With service providers who process data on our behalf, only to the extent needed to run Bingely: Google Firebase (account authentication), Apple (in-app purchases and App Attest), Amazon Web Services (cloud hosting, file storage for media you upload, job queues, and the Amazon Bedrock AI service, which we use to generate show-related bubble content from show information, not from your personal data), Kie.ai (AI image generation; when you ask for a generated bubble image, only the description you write is sent, without your identity, and the resulting image is stored with your other uploaded media), and The Movie Database (show information; your searches are sent to TMDB without your identity). The speech-recognition model the app uses is downloaded from Hugging Face the first time you need it; that download reveals your IP address to Hugging Face but no account information. • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety, rights, or property of Bingely, our users, or the public; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues. • In connection with a business transfer. If Bingely is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Notice. • With your consent, or at your direction. • Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be shared for any purpose.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing, and Bingely does not contain third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
4. How We Protect Your Information
We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Session tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. Cash-out requests are signed with a key that never leaves your device's Secure Enclave and can only be used after Face ID or Touch ID confirmation. Watch-session audio is processed on your device and never transmitted. Access to production data is restricted to personnel who need it. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, credentials, balances, blocks, and your posts, comments, and bubbles from our systems, and we delete your account with Firebase Authentication. Watch-session records are deleted with your account. We retain purchase, sponsorship, and payout records, content reports, and information needed to prevent fraud or comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations for as long as those obligations require, and we may retain de-identified data indefinitely. Shows and communities you created may remain available to other users without you as their owner. Media you uploaded may persist in backups for a limited period before being purged.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have choices about the information we collect and how it is used:
• Access and update. You can see your username, balances, purchase history, and cash-out history in the Account tab. To request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, email us at the address in Section 12. • Delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from the Account tab. Deletion is permanent and forfeits any remaining BingelyCash. • Microphone, speech recognition, camera, and photos. Bingely asks for permission before using your microphone, speech recognition, camera, or photo library, and you can change those permissions at any time in iOS Settings. If you dictate a bubble, your voice is converted to text on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition; the audio never leaves your device. Without microphone access, watch verification and earning do not work, but the rest of the app does. • Blocking and reporting. You can block any user to hide their content, manage your blocked users from the Account tab, and report content that breaks the Community Rules. • Purchases. Manage your App Store purchases and request refunds through Apple. • Communications. We send only transactional and account-related emails, which you cannot opt out of while you have an account. • Do Not Track and tracking. Bingely does not track you across other apps or websites and does not request permission to do so.
7. International Data Transfers
Bingely is based in the United States and our service providers store and process information in the United States and in other countries that may not have the same data-protection laws as your home country. By using Bingely, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
8. Additional Information for Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Bingely is the controller of your personal data, and we process it on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (providing the app, verifying watch sessions, crediting and paying out rewards); our legitimate interests (securing the service, preventing fraud, moderating content, and improving Bingely), balanced against your rights; your consent (microphone, speech recognition, camera, and photo access, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings); and compliance with legal obligations (tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests).
You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data; to restrict or object to its processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You can exercise these rights through the Account tab or by contacting us at the address in Section 12. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
9. Additional Information for California Residents
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, requires additional disclosures for California residents. In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (email address, username, device identifier, IP address); commercial information (purchases, BingelyCash transactions, payouts); internet or other electronic network activity (usage data, watch-session results); audio information processed on your device (not collected by us); biometric confirmation type (whether Face ID or Touch ID was used — we never receive biometric data itself); and inferences drawn from the above for fraud prevention. We collect this information from the sources described in Section 1 and use and disclose it for the purposes described in Sections 2 and 3.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16.
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; to request correction; to opt out of sales or sharing (which we do not do); to limit the use of sensitive personal information (which we use only as necessary to provide the service); and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise these rights, use the Account tab or contact us at the address in Section 12. We will verify your request using your account email. You may designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf.
10. Children
Bingely is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account and its data. Users under 18 may not buy BingelyCash, sponsor shows, or request cash-outs.
11. Changes to This Notice
We may change this Privacy Notice from time to time. If we do, we will update the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. We encourage you to review this Notice whenever you access Bingely to stay informed about our practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.
